Anne Taintor: Fifties in Biting Irony Sauce

It has started like one of those hell of a day, with deadlines to meet and boring time consuming details to refine. Then I received this image with an email:

And – after bursting into laughter – I allowed Anne Taintor‘s bubbly wit to seize my mood. Taintor responds to Fifties’ visual imagery from postcards and ads with sparkling wit. Her repartee is made of biting words that turn the reassuring images into freeing declarations of emancipation from the heaviness of life. An invitation not to take things too seriously, especially yourself.

Since 1985 Anne Taintor has created a range of products, from notebooks to bags  and cards. Every month her website Vintage Revisited has a competition: you’re invited to come up with your own interpretation of one image from the Mad Men era. The results so far are encouraging: the world is still a place of clever, silver-tongued minds! No more words needed from my part today.
